PGSC Tarpon Springs Cruise ( 3/29 to 4/19 )

The three week cruise went well this year with five boats, ten people, and great sailing and weather.   Jan and Bill Lorton on Satisfaction  led the Lucys on More Therapy, the Glasspoles on Patience, the Nielsens on CSCape, and the Cordis’s on Corona, up to Tarpon Springs with stops at Pelican Bay, Longboat Pass, John’s Pass, Ancelote Key which sports beautiful beaches and good shelling as well as a protected anchorage, then into Tarpon Springs for exploring and eating at the numerous Greek restaurants.  Then back down the coast with stops at Clearwater, Tampa Bay, Apollo Beach, Manatee River, Bradenton, Venice, and Pelican Bay.  Three weeks of great sailing and exploring.

The Horns on Blown Away and David Laing on Flour de Lye left two weeks late to try to hook up with the group in Sarasota Bay.  The late gang sailed to Pelican Bay then up to Big Sarasota Pass to find it silted in to about 3 feet!  A decision was made to return to Venice for the night which made for a long but enjoyable day of sailing.  Since we couldn’t connect we sailed from Venice to Useppa, then out Red Fish Pass to Pelican Bay,  then home.  Actually that cruise was great and we will see if we can put something like it together for next year.
