Come out and join us on Tune-up Days !
Sail your boat on a fixed course and record your own time at all turning marks and the finish. Sail in the company of boats like yours and compare equipment, sail trim and boat handling. The objective is to have fun and improve total performance. No club affiliation, PHRF rating, sail numbers, or entry required. Just come out on the designated days and start at the time prescribed for your boat type.
After sailing we will meet for BYO snacks and drinks. This is an opportunity to discuss techniques and results with crews from boats like yours. Afterglow begins at 1730 hrs. at the new Bayshore Live Oaks picnic pavilion on Bayshore Drive (Location Change) in Charlotte Harbor. If the pavillion is occupied, look for our yellow start line bouy at a table.
The course starts at Peace River red “2”. An inflated buoy will mark the other end of the starting line. Then sail south to Peace River green “1”, leave it to starboard, then sail west to Myakka River green “7”.
Round “7” to starboard and sail back to green “1”, leaving it on port, and then returning to the finish between red “2” and the inflated buoy.
This will provide 2-3 hours of entertainment.
The following dates are scheduled: April 26, May 3, 10, and 17.
Starting times (use your GPS) are :
- Boats 19- 25 ft - GPS 1200 hrs
- Boats 25- 33 ft - GPS 1210 hrs
- Boats 33- 41 ft - GPS 1220 hrs
- Boats over 41 ft and multi hulls - 1230 hrs
Please keep more than 1/8th mile from the start line until 5 minutes prior to your start and follow sailing “right of way” rules.
Monitor VHF channel 69 starting at 1145 hrs.
