1.
Rules: The race will be governed by The Racing Rules of
Sailing (2009
–2012), the prescriptions of US Sailing, the rules of West
Florida PHRF, and the Regatta Sailing Instructions.
2.
Eligibility: Any sailboat over 20 feet may participate.
Boats
that do not have a current WFPHRF certificate may compete by
obtaining a temporary certificate. Such boats are advised to
pre-register early to allow suffcient time for accurate handicapping.
3.
Entry
&
Fees: Boats
must
register by submitting a completed Official Entry Form along with a
check made out in the appropriate amount payable to PGSC.
Pre-registration should
be postmarked no
later than February 24, 2012 and mailed to Bob Knowles, 120 Bayshore
Court, Punta Gorda, Fl 33950. The early registration fee is $50
( $45
for USSA members). An entry fee of $15
is available for those who can
only race on Sunday. There is a late fee of $15
for entries received
after Feb 24th.
Additional fees may be paid for social activities
ashore. See entry form for details.
4.
Classes: Boats
must
register to compete in the mono or multi
hull category, and in either Racing, Non Spinnaker, or Cruising
Divisions. The divisions may be further subdivided as required.
5.
Administration: Race
headquarters for the event will be the Punta Gorda Boat Club, 802 West
Rette Esplande, Punta Gorda, FL.
6.
Racing
Area: Races
will
ordinarily be started on Charlotte Harbor, in the area north and east
of Marker #1.
7. Courses:
On Saturday the race committee intends to set windward/ leeward courses
as it deems appropriate for each class. Course signals will
be posted on the committee boat as per the Sailing Instructions. The
classic 8.5 nm course will be selected for the reverse start
combined fleet Conquistador race on Sunday.

9.
Skippers Meeting: Sailing Instructions and class
assignments will be
available at the skipper's meeting and final registration at 1900 hours
on Friday evening.
10.
Scoring
System: The low-pont scoring system ( Appendix
A4 of the racing rules ) will apply. One race will constitute a
regatta.
All races will be counted. Corrected times will be determined using
Time on Distance scoring.
11.
Prizes: Overall awards for the
top three finishers in each fleet. The first boat to finish
Sunday’s Reverse Start race gets their boat on next year’s
t-shirt and is awarded the coveted Conquistador’s Helmet.
